KT coach Lee Kang-cheol “So Hyeong-jun recovers quickly expected to return at the end of June”

KT Wiz coach Lee Kang-cheol did not hide his expectations, saying that native starter So Hyun-jun (22) is recovering faster than expected.

Ahead of the 2024 professional baseball visiting game against the Samsung Lions to be held at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on the 21st, Manager Lee Kang-cheol said, “It was reported that So Hyeong-jun recently threw a two-seam fastball in the range of 140 km during live pitching (training where the batter is set up and pitched like a real game). “If the current trend continues, I think I will be able to return by the end of June,” he said.

Coach Lee said, “When So Hyeong-jun returns, he will initially start at intervals of 10 days,” and added, “For now, we will keep a close eye on him until he fully recovers.”

Son Hyeong-jun underwent elbow ligament fusion surgery in May of last year and focused on recovery and rehabilitation, and on the 19th, he pitched live for the first time after the surgery at the 2nd team stadium in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do.

He checked the condition of his arm by throwing a total of 30 pitches, including a two-seam fastball, cut fastball, change-up, and curve.

Coach Lee Kang-cheol also spoke about the return schedule of other starting players who were excluded from the entry due to injuries and condition issues.

Director Lee said, “Go Young-pyo, who was originally expected to return at the end of May, may take a little longer,” and added, “He may return around the same time as So Hyeong-jun.”
