Connecticut Casinos Could Lose Billions

The two Connecticut casinos are worried about their financial losses, with several New England casinos expected to open in the coming years. There are at least four new casino resorts that will open in New York and Massachusetts by 2019. Two Connecticut tribal casinos, Foxwood and Mohegan Sun, reportedly could lose hundreds of millions of dollars a year once they open. Analysts predict casino customers will likely choose to be closer to home than continue driving to Uncasville, where the tribe’s current casinos are located, or to Matantucket.

A spokesperson for one of the tribes was not surprised by the expected losses, but said they welcomed reports of “continuing the curriculum.” Many people, including the governor of Connecticut, were undaunted by the tribe’s plans to open new gaming venues and secure some of the fleeing dollars. Together, the tribes plan to create a casino at I-91 north of Hartford to compete with the $800 million MGM Springfield, which will be the first of the new tournaments to open in 2017. The tribes also hope to build two more casinos along a travel corridor to New York and Massachusetts.

Off-track betting sites have asked for new casinos to be set up within their venues as new competition could hurt their businesses and cost them jobs. 슬롯사이트
