Doosan wins 6 in a row-KIA loses 4 in a row-SSG loses 5 in a row

The Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) accelerated their return to fall baseball with a six-game winning streak. Doosan won 8-3 on Sunday against the KIA Tigers at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju. The Bears have swept their last six games, including a three-game weekend series against Kia.

Doosan was tied for fifth place in the standings, one game behind Kia, before the game, and jumped to fourth place with the win. Kia, on the other hand, was swept at home by title rival Doosan, allowing them to overtake them and drop to fifth place. It was their fourth straight loss.

Doosan’s sixth straight win was led by Yang Seok-hwan, who went 3-for-4 with the game-winning hit. He lined a single to left field with runners on second and third in the top of the third inning to give Doosan the lead for good. Then, with runners on first and second in the top of the fifth inning with a 3-1 lead, he hit a big double to the left-center field fence to bring in both runners.

Kia scored two runs in the fifth to pull within 5-3, but Yang Seok-hwan relieved Dusan once again. In the top of the seventh, with the bases loaded and one out, Yang again delivered the wedge hit, this time a single to the top of the left field fence. It was a big enough hit that Doosan requested a video replay of the home run.

Doosan’s Kang Seung-ho also had a three-hit blast, including a home run. After completing the KBO’s 30th cycling hit (a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game) on the 15th against KIA, he was in fine form today, hitting a home run, a single, and a double in quick succession. However, in his final at-bat with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, he struck out in an attempt to become the first player to hit a double in a single series.

Doosan ace Raul Alcantara did his part with six innings and eight hits (one home run) and three runs to improve to 13-6 on the season. KIA foreign pitcher Thomas Pannoni was charged with five runs (four earned) in five innings and suffered his second loss of the season.

Meanwhile, the LG Twins took both games of their doubleheader against the SSG Landers to solidify their lead atop the standings with four straight wins. They 토토 won the first game 8-3 and the second game 9-5. SSG, which had been battling LG for the lead until midway through the season, dropped to sixth place after losing five straight games despite losing the one-two punch of Kim Kwang-hyun and Kirk McCutty.

The Lotte Giants extended their winning streak to three games with a 7-4 victory over the Samsung Lions in Daegu. Starter Park Se-woong pitched six innings of two-run ball to pick up his seventh win of the season, while Ahn Chi-hong put on a one-man show with his sixth career home run, sweeping in five RBIs.
