‘Sports Climbing’s’ Do Hyun Lee earns first World Championships bouldering podium with bronze medal

South Korean sport climber Lee Do-hyun (20) has won his first medal on the world championship stage.

Lee finished third behind Michael Marm (3T2Z 8 12) and Mehdi Chalak (2T4Z 5 10, both of France) in the bouldering final at the 2023 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Sport Climbing World Championships in Bern, Switzerland, on Friday.

This earned Lee the bronze medal. It is his first medal at the World Championships. In the final, Lee scored 2T 3z 5 15 (completing two of the four tasks in five attempts and catching three zones in 15 attempts). He will also compete in the lead and speed events on Saturday.

Lee won gold at this year’s World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic, in a dominant performance that saw him complete all of the routes, followed by a silver medal at the World Cup in Brixen.

“It’s great to win my first medal at the World Championships,” Lee said through his management company, All That Sports. I will do my best in the remaining competitions.”

The IFSC Sport Climbing World Championships are the most prestigious and largest event in sport climbing. Held every two years, the World Championships 토토 will take place over 12 days from January 1-12. The 2025 World Championships will be held in Seoul, South Korea.

Chun Jong-won, who also competed in the men’s bouldering event, finished 20th, Song Yoon-chan 63rd, Han Min-sung 71st, and Kim Do-hyun 99th.
