Poker Pro Phil Hellmuth Wins Pittsburgh Poker Open At Rivers Casino

Around 4 a.m. this morning, poker pro Phil Helmus added another prize to his spacious trophy shelf. The world-famous player won the Pittsburgh Poker Open main event at Rivers Casino, beating 254 contestants.

Helmut won the tournament for the first time since 2012. He is the most widely known face in poker and is known as the “Poker Brat” in the world. With 13 World Series of Poker (WSOP) wins, Helmut holds the record for the most WSOP bracelets.

The 19-day race series prize money totaled over $247,350. Helmus collected more than $54,000 in prize money and a crystal trophy presented by Rivers Casino to win.

In the final vote, Helmus defeated David Baker, the winner of the 2012 World Series poker bracelet. As a runner-up, Baker’s consolation prize was $40,000.

Pittsburgh Poker Open Part of the main event was filmed for future “Poker Night in America” episodes. Prior to the main event, Helmus, Jennifer Tilly, and Greg Mueller participated in a big cash game to be featured in “Poker Night in America.” Season 2 of the nationally televised cable and web series will begin on Jan. 1, 2015, and the Pittsburgh episode will air in late March.
