In particular, Chairman Luis Rubiales sharpened his teeth at the Spanish political circles that are pressuring him to resign.

Chairman Rubiales said, “Rather than letting the judiciary make the decision,

those who are supposed to guarantee the separation of powers are putting pressure on me.

“I am concerned about the situation where people are being asked to participate.”

He continued, “I am following the procedures of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) to protect my position,” adding,

“There is brutal political and media pressure, and numerous information manipulations, lies, and censorship are occurring,

but the independent organizations in charge of this issue are being investigated.”

“I trust you,” he added.

According to dpa news agency, Spain’s Sports Administrative Tribunal (TAD) classified Chairman Rubiales’

surprise kiss as a ‘serious act’ and decided to formally consider whether he was guilty.

If it had been classified as a higher level of ‘very serious behavior’,

the Spanish government would have been able to immediately remove Chairman Rubiales,

but for now, they will have to wait for TAD’s decision.

Henifer Hermoso

President Rubiales held Henifer Hermoso’s face with both hands and kissed her at the Spanish national team’s 2023 Women’s World Cup victory ceremony on the 20th of last month.

Afterwards, Hermoso’s controversy grew when she communicated

with her fans through social media and revealed that she was “not in a good mood.”

About 80 Spanish women’s soccer players, including Hermoso,

a key member of the national team, announced their intention to boycott through the players’ union Footpro,

criticism heated up as political circles and Primera Liga clubs joined the procession of condemnation.

FIFA

Then, the Spanish Football Association announced that there was clear evidence that Hermoso’s statement that he “never consented to the kiss” was false and threatened legal action,

while FIFA also took disciplinary action.

FIFA held a disciplinary committee on the 26th of last month and suspended all of President Rubiales’

powers related to soccer, both domestically and internationally, for 90 days.

In addition, President Rubiales ordered that Hermoso should not be approached for the time being.

FIFA plans to announce the results of the investigation and final disciplinary action at a later date.

In his previously released statement, Chairman Rubiales also concluded that this incident was an ‘attack by false feminists’ and claimed that the truth had been distorted.

He said that when he asked, ‘Can I lightly kiss you?’,

Hermoso replied, ‘You can do it,’ and he claims that the kiss was an act of consent from the other person.
