Mbappe is followed by Romero…”Real Madrid inquire about signing”
Son Heung-min to join Mbappe?…”Real Madrid target”
[Sports Illustrated] Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is being targeted by Real Madrid.
ESPN Argentina reported on the 13th (Korea time) that “Real Madrid are interested in signing Romero” and “have contacted Tottenham about the possibility of signing Romero”.
Real Madrid are overhauling their squad to build a team that can dominate in the coming years.
Jude Bellingham and Vinicius are the mainstays, and next season they’ll be joined by Kylian Mbappe, the next big thing, and Brazilian sensation Endrick.
The next area of need is the defense. Real Madrid have four center backs in their first team, including Édouard Militant, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and Nacho Fernandez. With Nacho Hernandez set to leave the club and Militant and Alaba suffering from frequent injuries, the defense is in need of reinforcements. Romero fits into the “elite center back” category, which is exactly what Real Madrid needs.
“Romero is a key part of Postecoglou’s system, so Tottenham are likely to demand a hefty fee if they allow him to leave,” says the Daily Mail.
Romero was born in Cordoba, Argentina, and joined the youth team of Atletico Belgrano, an Argentine club with ties to Cordoba.
Romero signed his professional contract with Belgrano in the 2016-17 season and made 13 appearances in his first year as a professional.
The following year, in 2017-18, his role was reduced to three appearances. It was during this time that Romero admitted to contemplating 먹튀검증 retirement.
Romero”s career turned around when he moved to Europe. Italian Serie A side Genoa, who had been scouting South American talent, snapped him up. Upon joining Genoa, Romero quickly established himself as a first-team defender and made a name for himself in Europe with 27 Serie A appearances.
Juventus saw his potential and made a move for him, but the Bianconeri had a number of other center backs in their squad. Romero was loaned back to Genoa and then to fellow Serie A side Atalanta for the 2020-21 season.
It was his third season in Serie A, and it was at Atalanta that Romero really made his mark in Europe. Romero was the first-choice defender for Atalanta in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. In the Champions League, he was named to the best 11 in the group stage and was named to the best of the Serie A season.
Romero made his debut for Argentina in June 2021, and he also played in the Copa America that year, sharing the field with Lionel Messi. He went on to win the 메이저사이트 trophy with Messi at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Romero left Serie A in the 2021-22 season to take on a new challenge at Tottenham in the English Premier League. He made 30 appearances in his first year with the club and was a regular defender in 32 games last season.
This season, under new manager Postecoglou, he’s been a consistent first-choice defender. He made 33 Premier League appearances and helped the team qualify for the Europa League alongside Son Heung-min.
“Romero, who is regarded as one of the best center backs in the world after winning the 2022 World Cup, could be keen to play beyond the Europa League,” said the Daily Mail, adding: “He is under contract until 2027. That means Tottenham are in no rush to sell.”
