LG’s In-Deok Chung’s new attitude toward competition: “Whichever team you’re on, you have to survive”
Jung In-duk (30, 195 cm) is preparing for another competition.
On the 30th, LG Champions Park in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do. Changwon LG and UP (University of the Philippines) played a practice game. After being swept on the 29th, LG won a close game, 72-68. The entire squad played, including rehabilitated players Jeon Sung-hyun and Yoo Yoo-sang. Jung In-deok also played his part on offense and helped LG win the game.
“Every year, we play a practice game against a Filipino college team. It’s tough because you know they play tough, but they come out even tougher. But it definitely helps in the regular league. We still need some time to adjust. Yesterday (29th), after we lost, 파워볼게임 we talked about defense with the players, and it paid off today (30th).”
Jung In-duk, who has shown improvement every season, spent his own money on skill training during the vacation. He was well-received by LG officials during a practice game against UP. “He has changed his offense,” the LG official said.
In response, Jung said, “I’ve gained a lot of confidence in my dribbling. In shooting, I used to use a lot of force when going up, but now I try to shoot with my legs without using my arms as much as possible. I think that’s why my shots are lighter.”
LG made a lot of changes in the offseason. Lee Jae-do, Lee Kwan-hee, Jung Hee-jae, Lee Seung-woo, and Justin Gutang left the team, and Jeon Sung-hyun, Doo Kyung-min, Heo Il-young, Jang Kook-min, Choi Jin-soo, and Carl Tamayo joined. The starting lineup of Korean players has completely changed. Especially in the forward line, Jung In-duk will have to compete for playing time.
“It’s the first time we’ve had this many changes in any team, and my brothers are willing to play. I’m really looking forward to next season. If we don’t get injured, I think we can do well enough,” Jung said.
“No matter which team you go to, you have to compete with goodwill and survive. There are a lot of players who are strong in offense, so I think what I have to do is defense and dirty work. As long as I do my part, I don’t think it will be a problem.”
After falling short in the quarterfinals of the playoffs for the second consecutive season, LG is looking to reach new heights in the new season with a revamped roster. The team will continue training at LG Champions Park until March 3 before traveling to the Philippines from March 11 to 21.
“The first goal is to stay injury-free,” Jung said. I want to go to the championship game because I was frustrated at the threshold of the championship for two consecutive seasons, so I want to win the championship. Personally, my free throw percentage is low, so I need to improve it,” Jung said.
