Kim Ha-Sung hits a walk-off double to spark a comeback… Bae Ji-hwan hits for the second straight game

San Diego Padres center fielder Ha-seong Kim (28) and Pittsburgh Pirates utility infielder Ji-hwan Bae (25) both had meaningful performances against each other.

Kim had the game-winning hit, while Bae had his second straight game with a hit.

The senior started at shortstop in the No. 8 spot in the lineup against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates of the Major League Baseball (MLB) 2024 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 9 and went 1-for-3 with a walk.

His season batting average dropped slightly from .225 to .223.

Kim’s return to the starting lineup came four days after he was scratched from the lineup on May 5 against the Colorado Rockies.

He missed the game against Pittsburgh on July 7 with a sore right arm, and then came in as a pinch-hitter against the Pirates on July 8.

He’s still not fully healthy. Kim singled in each of his first three at-bats.

He flied out to center field in his first at-bat in the second inning, flied out to left field in his second at-bat in the fifth inning, and grounded out to shortstop in his third at-bat in the seventh inning.

The game remained close, and San Diego mounted its final offense in the top of the ninth inning, trailing 4-5.

With runners on first and second, Kim had his final at-bat of the night and drew a walk against right-hander David Bednar.

After one strike, he fought off four consecutive pitches outside for the final out.

Kim walked to load the bases for San Diego. Kyle Higashioka then hit an infield grounder that scored Xander Bogaerts from third base.

With the tying run at the plate, Luis Arares blasted a two-run double to right-center to make it a 7-5 game.

The Padres gave up one run in the bottom of the ninth but held on for the 7-6 victory and their fifth straight win.

Bae, who started in right field as Pittsburgh’s No. 8 hitter, was stranded on a pitcher’s choice with runners on first and second in the second inning and hit a grounder to first base in the fifth.

The hit came in the sixth inning. With Pittsburgh trailing 4-2 and runners on first and second in the bottom of the sixth, he lined a single to left off San Diego right-hander Carl Edwards Jr.

He took advantage of a big curveball just outside the zone for a big hit.

In the eighth, he came up short. He tried to bunt with the bases loaded and was thrown out at the plate.

He went 1-for-4 with one RBI on the day, raising his season batting average from .186 to .191.

Bae has hit safely in two consecutive games since Aug. 8 against San Diego and has reached base in three of his last four games. 토토사이트 추천
